Yes, it has been quite a a while since I last updated this blog. I just real­ized that I missed doing the work it takes to pub­lish this thing.

As you have no doubt noticed, the site is in a state of devel­op­ment.  It will be con­stantly chang­ing while I try out a few new tricks. I hope to have things run­ning smoothly in the near future. So, keep check­ing back for the lat­est.

Bob Olsen is retired from a career in com­mer­cial radio broad­cast­ing where he worked as an announcer, on-air per­son­al­ity, pro­gram direc­tor and con­sul­tant. Over a rwenty year period he worked at sta­tions: KECC, WLRC, WQDC, WSVC, WBCM, WTRX and WFDF.

Bob is a re-tread ham. First licensed as a Novice in 1967, his orig­i­nal call sign was WN8YHT.

Bob served seven terms as the Chair­per­son of the Gene­see County Ama­teur Radio Emer­gency Ser­vice, Incor­po­rated (GCARES) Board of Direc­tors and was their Direc­tor of Spe­cial Projects for ten years. GCARES was a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, not-for-profit, orga­ni­za­tion founded in 1978 by local Fed­eral Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­mis­sion licensed Ama­teur Radio oper­a­tors.

He has held the Amer­i­can Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Appoint­ments of: Assis­tant Emer­gency Coor­di­na­tor, Emer­gency Sta­tion and oth­ers. His responses with the Ama­teur Radio Emer­gency Ser­vice orga­ni­za­tion and the National Weather Ser­vice led to his being hon­ored by the City of Bur­ton, MI and the Michi­gan State Police.
